About Kathy

Over my sixty-plus years I've enjoyed many positions and lived in a variety of places from Ohio to Texas and now also Australia. I have been married twice—thus the double name. I have two amazing daughters who are now more than busy raising a total of six of my grandchildren. By virtue of several marriages (mine and those of my relatives) I also have some additional relatives. Staying in touch with them is a central part of this new semi-retired life.

Along the way I've always gravitated to a few central themes. First, reading and writing. I love to read. I love to write. I've read my way through each and every crisis I've encountered. Sometimes for information on how to get through it. Often just to divert my attention until the situation improves. I've been writing in journals since I was old enough to hold a pen. I sold my first article to the Cleveland Plain Dealer my senior year as a Journalism student at Bowling Green State University. I was hooked and have been writing professionally every since.

Next, I enjoy helping people. Whether on the job, in the family, or as a volunteer, I am often involved in some sort of effort to pitch in and help. That's why I hope I can help you expand what you do to help others.

Finally, I flourish best when surrounded by people of faith. My faith was first influenced by my Methodist grandmother. Later I got very involved in a Presbyterian youth group. Then I married into the Lutheran community. Along the way I've studied with the Episcopalians and joined forces with many other groups to pull off youth events or help with disaster response ministry.
